I completed six sessions of under arm and legs (below the knee) laser hair removal with Olena. It was honestly such a pleasure. Alexandrite vs. Nd:YAG
Not all laser hair removal treatments are the same — and one laser wavelength does not work the same way for every skin type.
At Essence Laser, I work with both 755 nm Alexandrite and 1064 nm Nd:YAG wavelengths.
So how do I choose?
755 nm Alexandrite is generally well suited for lighter skin types and can be highly effective when there is good contrast between the skin and hair.
1064 nm Nd:YAG penetrates deeper and has lower melanin absorption, making it an important option for darker skin types and tanned skin when appropriate.
But choosing the wavelength is only part of the treatment.
Before every treatment, I consider:
• Skin type and current skin condition
• Hair color, thickness and density
• Recent sun exposure or tanning
• Treatment area
• Previous laser treatments and your skin’s response
• Appropriate laser settings and cooling
There is no “one setting fits everyone” approach.
My goal is not simply to use a laser — it is to choose the right technology and parameters for your individual skin and hair characteristics.
